I find the cultural things that affect our writing and storytelling interesting. What sort of things are going on behind the scenes and have been passed down for generations that we take for granted when writing? What sort of good and bad habits have I adopted from the writers who inspire me?
Here’s a list of some bad narrative constructions that can be found in comic books. I’ve never been a huge comic book reader, but the writing styles from that medium have filtered over into film, television, and even some books. I’m curious how many of these holes I’ve fallen into without really being aware. I guess I’ll just have to analyze my work more in the future to see.
